Photo Album: Combination Foundation Radon Mitigation
This home presented an interesting mitigation challenge: an elevated radon level of 6.0 pCi/L combined with two different foundation areas—a basement and an encapsulated crawl space.
Rather than relying on a single extraction point to address the entire home, Triangle Radon Defense designed a two-point depressurization system.
Our first extraction point was installed through the basement slab near the laundry equipment. The piping was then routed into the crawl space, where a second extraction point was installed beneath the sealed crawl space barrier.
Both extraction points were incorporated into the mitigation system before the piping passed through the foundation wall and continued above the roofline for proper discharge.
The homeowner handled the post-mitigation testing separately, so a final radon level was not provided to us.
This project highlights an important part of radon mitigation: the system should fit the home. Homes with multiple foundation types may require multiple collection points to properly address the different areas beneath the structure.
Manometer and Alarm
All our systems come with a water column gauge and alarm.
